Modular Table

Der Modular Tisch beim Popella Festival in Graz:

The Modular Table is not a table in the traditional sense, but rather a social resonance space for encounters, sound, and collaborative experimentation. Four modular synthesizers embedded in the tabletop can be played simultaneously by multiple people.

Fragile relationships emerge among the participants, characterized by interaction and mindfulness—a form of collective expression that transcends spoken language. Decisions do not remain isolated, but overlap and continuously alter the conditions for everyone. The composition of the music is negotiated collectively.

The Modular Table creates situations in which listening does not remain passive, but becomes an intervention in itself. The table thus becomes a social instrument: a place where collective thought becomes audible, dissolves, and reassembles itself again and again.

„The modular band for everyone!“
Four modular synthesizers are built into the tabletop in such a way that they can be played by several people at the same time. Even without any previous knowledge!
The four different instruments offer a wide range of possibilities and have different functions in musical interplay.
